Cab Taxi Policies
Boston (Southie) Cab Taxi Policies
Since 1870 South Boston (Southie) has been politically part of the city of Boston,Massachusetts. All of our cabs and taxis here in Southie are therefore administered under the rules set down by the Boston police commissioner via the Boston Police department’s Hackney Carriage unit. Our rule book was most recently updated on 8/31/09 and is now known, together with its many and ongoing amendments and legal battles is now known as “rule 403″. The cabbies have come to call it “Catch 22″ after the Joseph Heller novel because every rule laid down in it to protect cabbies also seems to have a catch that favours cab owners interests more.
The rule book is honestly far too long and boring to actually print here. If you are interested in reading it please copy and paste the below url into your browser and visit the Boston Police hackney carriage unit website. I am sorry I can not provide a hyper link. I am trying to rank for the same keywords they are
