Since 1870 South Boston (Southie) has been politically part of the city of Boston,Massachusetts.All of our Boston cabs and Boston taxis here in Southie are therefore administered under the rules set down by the Boston police commissioner via the Boston Police department’s Hackney Carriage unit. Our rule book was most recently updated on 8/31/09 and is now known,together with its many and ongoing amendments and legal battles  as “rule 403″. The  Boston Cab drivers have come to call it  “Catch 22″ after the Joseph Heller novel because every rule laid down in it to protect Boston cabbies also seems to have a catch that favors Boston cab owners interests more.
